GCSE Business: assessment changes for summer 2026
Published: Thursday 11 Jul 2024
We’ve received feedback that learners often struggle to respond to a high level on 6 mark questions across the papers, and we believe this is because our approach to these questions expects a response tied to just one factor of the case study/question.
From summer 2026, our new approach is to move away from having 6 mark questions tied to one factor, which we hope more learners will be able to access the full range of marks for this question type.
We’ll be assessing 6 mark questions in this way for the summer 2026 exams and onwards.
To support you, we’re creating some example questions, answers and commentaries which will be available on our GCSE Business web pages in the spring term 2025.
