AQA’s Steve Vear honoured with an MBE
Published: Friday 1 Feb 2019
AQA’s Head of Resource Management, Steve Vear, has been appointed an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in the 2019 New Year honours, for his voluntary service in Hampshire.
Outside of his position at AQA, Steve is extremely busy carrying out a number of voluntary roles. He volunteers with the Samaritans and as a school governor. In his free time Steve is also Bench Chair of North Hampshire Magistrates, a member of the University of Winchester's Student Union board and a community radio presenter.
Steve Vear said:
“I am still getting over the shock of it all, especially as volunteers never expect to get anything back for what we do. But to be recognised in this very special way is so very touching and I am of course looking forward to my investiture at the palace!”
Lisa Pearl, AQA Director of People, said:
“Steve is a true inspiration and it’s brilliant to see the positive impact he has on so many people's lives. He is also a valued member of AQA and on behalf of the organisation, I'd like to congratulate Steve on his achievement.”
