Anne Spackman OBE new Chair of AQA Board of Trustees
Published: Friday 19 Apr 2024
We’re delighted to announce Anne Spackman OBE as the new Chair of our Board of Trustees.
The Board is responsible for our overall strategy, policy, educational initiatives and development, and for steering AQA to fulfil its educational and charitable objectives.
Trustees come from various educational and business bodies to ensure a balance of skills and experience, and usually serve for no more than one or two terms so that we can continually refresh the Board membership.
Anne had a long career in journalism, predominantly at the Financial Times and The Times, alongside chair and trustee roles in charities for which she was awarded the OBE.
Anne is chair of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust which was shortlisted for MAT of the year, and trustee of the Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation. Anne’s previous roles include director of Times newspapers, and CEO of the UK-wide social mobility charity Career Ready.
Anne takes up her post as Chair of the AQA Board of Trustees following Justin van Wijngaarden’s term coming to a close.
