In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
shown knowledge of
1	letters of the alphabet and alphabetical order	Student completed work
2	the general location of at least four given words in a dictionary, eg apple is found near the beginning of the dictionary	Summary sheet
demonstrated the ability to
3	use guide words in a dictionary to locate at least four given words	Summary sheet
4	place at least five words in alphabetical order where the initial letter is different	Student completed work
5	place at least five words in alphabetical order where the initial letter is the same	Student completed work
6	place at least five words in alphabetical order using at least the third letter	Student completed work
7	use a dictionary to find the meanings of at least five given words	Student completed work
8	use the dictionary to check the spelling of at least five words and correct the spelling where appropriate.	Student completed work
