122012 CASTING A PEWTER ACCESSORY

In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to
1	use 2D design to design a personalised pewter accessory	Summary sheet
2	follow the main health and safety guidelines to prepare a mould and work area for casting	Summary sheet
3	wear the appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with molten metal	Summary sheet
4	heat and pour the metal into the mould until the sprue is full	Summary sheet
5	remove the mould when the cast metal is set and cold	Summary sheet
6	remove the sprue by cutting using a junior hacksaw	Summary sheet
7	file and sand any burrs or flashing to clean up the cast	Summary sheet
8	drill a hole using the pillar drill, safely securing the cast	Summary sheet
9	photograph the completed work	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
