2 | make a suitable mould using 3D printing, sand, medium-density fibreboard (MDF) or air drying clay | Summary sheet |
3 | follow the main health and safety guidelines to prepare their mould and work area for casting | Summary sheet |
4 | place the mould hole under the pouring spout beneath the melting pot on a heatproof mat | Summary sheet |
5 | wear the appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with molten metal | Summary sheet |
6 | pour the metal into the mould until the approach hole is full | Summary sheet |
7 | remove the mould when the cast metal is set | Summary sheet |
8 | file and sand any burrs or rough edges to clean up the cast | Summary sheet and/or student completed work |
