121497 DESIGNING AND MAKING A BIRD BOX REFLECTING AN ESTABLISHED DESIGN STYLE, WITH SUPPORT

In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
shown knowledge of
1	how research into design styles can influence the generation of ideas	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
demonstrated the ability to
2	research and choose a design style for inspiration	Summary sheet
3	design and make a model of a bird box incorporating the key features of that style	Summary sheet
4	measure, mark out and cut their wood using a tenon saw	Summary sheet
5	sand the pieces to the required lengths	Summary sheet
6	mark and drill a hole for the bird's entrance	Summary sheet
7	biscuit, dowel or screw the box together	Summary sheet
8	make and attach at least one additional design style features as required	Summary sheet
9	make a rubber hinged access lid or hatch	Summary sheet
10	apply an exterior wood finish	Summary sheet
11	take a photograph of the completed birdbox.	Summary sheet
