120554 MAKING A WOODEN BIRD BOX

In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to
1	study a given drawing of the birdbox they are going to make	Summary sheet
2	measure and mark off the top, bottom, front and back pieces of the birdbox and include tolerance to sand	Summary sheet
3	use a tenon saw to cut the timber	Summary sheet
4	sand the required timber pieces to the exact length	Summary sheet
5	use the disc sander to create 20° angles on the front and lid	Summary sheet
6	mark and drill a hole for the bird's entrance	Summary sheet
7	biscuit or dowel joint the front to the side and base pieces	Summary sheet
8	attach the back with countersink screws	Summary sheet
9	glue and screw a rubber hinge to the lid	Summary sheet
10	apply an exterior wood finish	Summary sheet
11	take a photograph of the completed birdbox.	Student completed work and/or photograph(s)
