In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
shown knowledge of
1	the birds to expect in the school environment, using a tally sheet from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)	Student completed work
experienced
2	taking part in 30 minutes of birdwatching and data collection of the birds that visited the school environment on at least one occasion	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
demonstrated the ability to
3	analyse the data collected to identify trends, including the modal birds that visited the garden	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
shown knowledge of
4	the type of bird house/nesting site that at least one species of bird needs, using a trustworthy website such as the RSPB	Student completed work
demonstrated the ability to
5	plan and design an appropriate bird house/box for a particular species, identifying the materials needed and creating a budget	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
experienced
6	going to the local hardware shop with a list of necessary materials to purchase	Summary sheet and/or student completed work

7	follow instructions and use carpentry tools to build the bird box according to the instructions	Summary sheet
