119430 ACTING AS A TUTOR BEFRIENDER IN THE HOME LANGUAGE

In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to
1	give assistance with academic tutoring in the home language for 60 minutes per week over a period of 12 weeks	Summary sheet
2	establish a positive rapport with the tutee(s) through regular contact, encouragement and discussions	Summary sheet
3	assess the learning needs of the tutee(s) and research and analyse learning resources to help prepare them for academic examination	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
4	develop at least one new learning resource in the home language adapted to the learning needs of the tutee(s)	Student completed work
5	bring each tutoring session to a close in an appropriate manner, eg discuss how the session went and give advice on how to improve	Summary sheet
6	receive advice, guidance and supervision from the coordinating teacher	Summary sheet
7	keep up-to-date records of each session through use of a reflective log	Student completed work
shown knowledge of
8	the curriculum specification for the home language and the requirements for the examination	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
