1 | place a saucepan of cold water on a hob to boil | Summary sheet |
2 | using a spoon, place an egg into the boiling water for at least eight minutes | Summary sheet |
3 | refresh the egg in cold running water or in iced water until it is cool | Summary sheet |
4 | place sausage meat into a bowl | Summary sheet |
5 | add herbs, spices and seasonings of their choice and mix thoroughly | Summary sheet |
6 | place the sausage meat between two pieces of clingfilm and roll out it out flat until it is approximately 1cm thick | Summary sheet |
7 | lightly flour the egg | Summary sheet |
8 | remove the top layer of clingfilm, place the egg on top of the sausage meat and use the bottom layer of clingfilm to wrap the sausage meat evenly around the egg | Summary sheet |
9 | prepare three separate bowls, one for breadcrumbs, one for seasoned flour and one for beaten egg | Summary sheet |
10 | coat the egg wrapped in sausage meat first in the seasoned flour, then the beaten egg and finally the breadcrumbs | Summary sheet |
11 | fry the scotch eggs in oil until golden and finish them off in the oven, cooking them until the sausage meat is cooked through | Summary sheet |
