In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have

demonstrated the ability to

1use computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) to manufacture at least two moulds for castingSummary sheet and/or photograph(s)
2use runners and risers in the casting process and include them in the designSummary sheet
3finish the castings to a commercial standardSummary sheet
4design at least one item of jewellery to be cut from sheet materialStudent completed work and/or photograph(s)
5make templates to aid with the manufacture processSummary sheet and/or photograph(s)
6use a piercing saw and jewellers' pin to cut the desired shapesSummary sheet
7use needle files to refine the shape and remove burrsSummary sheet
8clean and prepare copper for enamellingSummary sheet
9select the colours and apply the enamelling processes safely and with careSummary sheet
10use a gas torch or enamelling kiln appropriately to vitrify the enamelSummary sheet
