115902 INTRODUCTION TO TIE-DYEING

In successfully completing this unit, the Learner will have		Evidence needed
demonstrated the ability to
1	select an appropriate item of clothing or fabric to be tie-dyed	Summary sheet
2	prepare the fabric for an intended tie dye pattern, eg shibori, folded, spiral, stripes, bullseye	Summary sheet
3	attach elastic bands or string to the selected item	Summary sheet
4	choose the colours of dye to be used and apply them to the chosen item	Summary sheet
5	cover the dyed item in cling film and leave it overnight to set	Summary sheet
6	remove the item from the cling film and rinse it in cold water	Summary sheet
7	remove the elastic bands or string once the fabric is dry	Summary sheet
8	instruct someone else how to tie dye an item, using visual support as necessary.	Summary sheet
