This course will provide an overview of the requirements of the GCSE Art and Design course. It will focus on the titles Art, Craft and design, Graphic communication, Textile design and Three-dimensional design. This course series will look at student artwork from the 2023 exam series.

Course description

This course will aim to:

  • Apply your teaching skills to meet the requirements of the specification 
  • Understand the nature of each of the four GCSE Art and Design Assessment objectives to ensure marking standards 
  • Examine approaches to Art and Design with reference to specific titles 
  • Identify a wide range of appropriate sources and approaches when planning and delivering the portfolio (Component 1) 
  • Provide ideas and activities to ensure your students fulfil the requirements for presenting a GCSE Art and Design portfolio 
  • Prepare you and your students to manage the ESA preparatory period 
  • Examine ways of responding to the Externally set assignment and how to effectively manage the ten hours of supervised time (Component 2)
